New Exhibit

YAY! Two of my pieces, Hip Amulet and Hand, have been selected for the "Counterflux: Defensive Ornament" exhibition at G.Gibson Gallery from April 21 to May 31 during the 2011 SNAG Seattle conference (Flux).

The following blurb from snagmetalsmith.org

This exhibition will showcase work designed to protect and fortify wearers against the perils and flux of everyday life, and will underline the crucial safeguarding function of jewelry and other bodily ornament.

Curator Suzanne Ramljak, a writer, art historian, and curator, is editor of Metalsmith magazine. She was formerly curator at the American Federation of Arts, and editor of Sculpture.

Studio Progress

Two table tops and saw horses so I can re-arrange my workspace depending on projects. Yay! Nice view out to the garden :)

Bamboo partition between studio and storage, and ye old jewelers bench... will use it for my soldering station.... ventilation already installed, hehe..

Whitewashed walls and painted floor = huge improvement... So pleased.

Home, sweet Portland

Update:

Happy New Year!

I'm now home in Portland, Oregon after three years at school. I am setting up my studio in the garage! Now I just need to figure out how to stay warm :).

I haven't made any work in the space yet, but I have all my tools and books out of boxes, and that feels great. Heat is my first priority, then we will move forward from there.
